Curriculum Vitae of Vitantonio Roma
Academic Career
- He receives the Master degree cun laude in Structural
Engineering at the
Technical University of Turin (Politecnico) when he was 24
years old. Title of the Master thesis: “ Attenuation of the seismic
response of structures based on pil foundations”, Professors De Stefano
e Lancellotta, awarded as best structural thesis in the years 1998-1999
of the Politecnico di Torino.
- He receives his PhD research studies at the Technical
University of Turin (Politecnico) with Prof. Lancellotta, spending 1
year at the
Georgia Institute of Technology of Atlanta (USA)
as visiting PhD student with Prof. Rix. From 2000 to 2001 at Georgia
Tech he attends classes of Soil Mechanics (Prof. Santamarina), Soil
Dynamics (Prof. Rix), Wave propagation (Prof. Jacob), Optimization in
Engineering design (Prof. Bert). Title of his PhD thesis:
“Soil Properties and Site characterization by means of Rayleigh Waves”.
- He starts his professional carrier working a brief period
as structural and geotechnical junior engineer at I.G. Srl (Ingegneria
Geotecnica), the branch office in Turin of the Studio Geotecnico
Italiano of Prof. Jamiolkowski
- He worked as civil and structural and geotechnical engineer
in Geodata and in Golder Associates
- Now he works as Project Engineer and expert structural and
geotechnical engineer
